Enthusiastic Inaugural Meeting
There was a large and enthusiastic attendance at the inaugural meeting of the newly-formed Carmarthen R.F.C. Supporters’ Club held at the Dolwar Cafe on Friday evening last. Councillor D. H. Davies was in the chair and the guest speaker was Mr Ivor Baxter, Llanelly.
Outlining the main principles with regard to the formation of a successful club, Mr Baxter explained that the main object of a supporters’ club was to give every assistance to the club whose name it bore. He gave guidance in regard to the organising side and social activities. Mr Baxter said he felt sure, judging by the large attendance and the enthusiasm shown, that the prospects of rugby football in Carmarthen were very bright and augured well for the success of the Supporters’ Club.
A vote of thanks to the speaker was proposed by Mr D. O. H. Davies and seconded by Me F. John.
Others who spoke were Captain W. Davies, West Wales representative, W.R.U., Mr W. J. Orman, chairman Carmarthen R.F.C. and Mr Glyn Davies captain Carmarthen R.F.C. Mr Gerald Thomas 1, Priory Street was elected secretary pro-tem. A further meeting will be held tonight (Friday) at the Dolwar Cafe at 7.30 pm when a committee will be elected. Nominations should be sent to the secretary.
