Youth on the Road

Following a couple of weeks without a game the Youth will look to pick themselves up following the last game defeat away to Llandeilo in a game that was exciting to watch.

The Quins Young Guns will hop the short journey westbound on the A40 to take on St Clears. The home side sit above the Quins currently in the table following a 24 – 5 victory over Newcastle Emlyn and a 3 all draw with Llandeilo. The Quins of course opened their account with a 14-10 win over neighbours Carmarthen Athletic and a 33-26 loss away to Llandeilo.

This will be a stern test for the young Quins but with a good week of preparation behind them and a couple of weeks without a game the coaches feel the squad are chomping at the bit to get out there and make amends for the last defeat.

Kick off in St Clears is 2.30pm.

Youth Hit the Road to Llandeilo

Following a delayed start to the season last week the Youth hit the road this coming Saturday with a trip to Llandeilo.

Llandeilo were involved in a tough game against St Clears that must have been some arm wrestle because the final score was a 3 all draw. We know that the Quins last week entertained town rivals Carmarthen Athletic and gained the seasons first bragging rights with a 14-10 win at Abergwilli.

The coaching staff however, haven’t rested on their laurels following the victory and preparations again have been at an intensity that aims to replicate game scenarios and as always there has been plenty to work on in training.

With plenty of rugby to be played the squad will be looking to turn in another positive performance.

Kick off at Cae William, Llandeilo is 2.30pm.

Derby Day at Abergwili

Following a late postponement of last weeks game against Lampeter the Quins young guns will now take the field at Parc y Deri, Abergwili for the first local derby of the season when neighbours Carmarthen Athletic come to visit on Saturday 11th September.

In what is always a keenly contested game this will be a stern test for the young Quins side.

Cenydd Powell coach of the youth said “There is an air of excitement amongst the squad to get a competitive game going and you cannot ask for more than a local derby! We have prepared well during the week and will be looking for the boys to give a performance. Its a big step for the boys but they have given everything in training just as they will on Saturday.”

“They are a proud bunch of boys many of whom have been together for many years coming through the ranks of the Quins mini and juniors and as a coaching team we cannot be anything but proud of them also. They are a credit to themselves and the club. Regardless of what  the result is Saturday we know they will leave absolutely everything on the field.”

Kick off at Abergwili is at 2.30pm and we hope to see many of you there as possible.

New Youth Kick off their Season

This coming Saturday will see the newly formed Quins Youth (Under 18) take the field in a competitive game. Following the recent announcement to change the age range of youth rugby by the Welsh Rugby Union, the club has been extremely fortunate that last seasons Under 16’s coaches have stepped up to continue their coaching of this fine band of players.

Training has been excellent over the last month or so with players showing real commitment that will stand them in good stead for wearing the famous Cardinal, Amber and Black of the Quins for the 2021/2022 season.

Being a young side this will be a real test of character for players and coaches alike but from what we have seen in training they will not let the club down one bit due to the fact of how proud they are of themselves. Under the expert guidance of former 1st XV player Gary Evans, Cenydd Powell and Wayne Proctor the squad is chomping at the bit to get started.

This week the young guns of the Quins entertain Lampeter in Abergwili in what is a league fixture and we would urge our supporters to make the short journey to Abergwili to give the squad as much encouragement as possible.

With a young small squad there are places available for anyone who would like to try rugby or wants to return to the game and you can contact the coaches Gary (07855 769744) or Cen (07786 373697) for a chat and specific training arrangements.

Kick off Saturday is 2.30pm at Abergwili. We hope you can make and watch what could be the next generation of Mighty Quins.

Final Youth Fixture – League Plate Winners 2018/2019

As the season comes to an end for our Youth team, as they take on Tumble Youth on Saturday, win, lose or draw this has been a successful season. With one league game left they have already been crowned winners of the Carmarthenshire League Plate and will be presented with this award following the completion of the game on Saturday.

These players are the next generation of Quins players and hopefully we will see a few of them turning out for the Senior squad in the near future.

Kick off on Saturday @ 2:30pm at Tumble RFC if you want to join the players in celebrating this last game and their success.
