Special Tie Awards – 100 David Sandbrook

AGE & REPRESENTATIVE HONOURS

QUINS 1st XV PLAYERS WITH OVER 100 APPEARANCES

DAVID SANDBROOK

100 + APPEARANCES

David played mostly at scrum-half for the Quins 1st XV between 1950 & 1955. As our playing records only started in 1965, we have no real record of the number of appearances David made for the Quins 1st XV. However, we can be fairly sure that he played in excess of 100 games. After retiring from rugby, David continued to support the Quins as a Vice-President.

David sadly passed away on the 26th October 2021. His son Michael, as seen in the above photograph, was presented with his father’s 100 + Appearances Tie by past chairman Robert Morgan at the Falcon Hotel on the 11th November 2021.

SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

Son of William (Bill) Sandbrook a former Honorary Secretary of the Club, David followed his fathers footsteps and represented the Quins with distinction. An all round sportsman, David was fairly handy with a snooker cue. He played cricket for Carmarthen Wanderers Cricket Club and we are as sure as we can be that he had made an appearance with Glamorgan Cricket Club.

He had a keen interest in football having at one time been a football coach. In days gone by both David and his wife Margaret were very keen golfers at Carmarthen Golf Club.

His son Michael, (above) at one time lived in Norway and made eight appearances at scrum half for the Norwegian International Rugby Team.
