Carmarthen Quins RFC – Hire / Use of Abergwili Pavilion
Since June 2022 significant effort has, and is being made, to advertise and hire out the Pavilion in Abergwili as a source of revenue for the Club.
The Senior committee, the Youth and Junior Sections are collaborating closely to ensure we develop an ongoing business plan to maximise the use of our facilities, with the aim of generating income for the benefit of everyone who has a vested interest in the club.
As a result of both advertising, and word of mouth, we now hire the pavilion on a weekly basis to three separate classes, and we are receiving an increasing number of enquiries from numerous different community groups who also wish to hire the Pavilion.
Of course, we are a Rugby Club and will remain as such first and foremost. However, in the current economic climate and in the face of increasing costs we also need to accept that we must diversify to maintain and improve our current position. It is important to recognise that organisations such as ours can support a variety of different Community Groups, and in doing so we are more likely to benefit from future Grant applications to develop our facilities.
The Pavilion has for some time operated on a booking system whereby the pavilion is hired out to persons or groups who wish to make use of our facilities. To ensure we retain this customer base we need to ensure the Pavilion is clean and well-presented to our clients on every occasion. It is imperative therefore that the booking system is followed, and anyone who has enjoyed the use of the facility in the past, should not assume it is acceptable to simply turn up and expect access.
Put simply, the hire of the pavilion must be booked and paid for in advance, and there is an expectation the facilities will be left in the same condition as they were presented.
Should the First XV, the Youth or any part of the Junior Section wish to use the Pavilion for training purposes or squad meetings, you are kindly asked to liaise with a relevant member of the Abergwili committee to ensure we do our best to strike an appropriate balance between the requirements of our rugby squads and the customers who use the Pavilion.
Any person who is not a committee member or part of team management, and who has a key to the Pavilion should hand in their key to a responsible person or at the clubhouse at their earliest convenience.
