An Update from Club President Mr David Harries

In what seems to be a lifetime since I was able to meet or speak with you or loyal supporters I wanted to touch base with you to bring you up to date on some news from the club.

As you are all too aware it has been almost a year since we were able to watch the Mighty Quins take the field whether it be our mini and junior teams, youth team or the senior side but the work hasn’t stopped in these strange times. We have had to make sure that during this pandemic that the club and its facilities survive but that we also take the opportunity to improve.

When it was safe to do so we have been able to complete our renovations at Abergwili which include the changing rooms and showers and now can boast a fully functioning gym with state of the art equipment. It was our intention to have an official opening of the facilities in early 2020 but as we all know the world became a dark place and such events were not and are still not allowed. However, when it is safe to do so we will hold this event to showcase the huge amount of work that has been undertaken that we hope will help the future of all Quins teams for many years to come.

There has been a formidable amount of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that the club is in the best position it possibly can be when we are able to reopen our doors to our members and their guests and when the players take the field once more. I would like to thank my fellow members of committee and others for their continuing help and support.

I must record my further thanks to our sponsors of whom there are too many to mention here but without your longstanding and continuing support it would be far more difficult for us as a club.

It is our aim as club to further improve our engagement with the community we have good links with a local nursing home Plas y Dderwen where our mini and junior representatives would attend the home at special functions when they could, we have provided them with a tablet during the pandemic that has allowed residents and their families to keep in touch during lockdowns and we gave them a hamper at Christmas which they raffled off for a member of staff to win as a thank you for all their hard work. We will continue this when we can and go wider in the community.

As you will see my message is on the club’s website and we intend to enhance and improve our communications with our Members and supporters by bringing you more rugby news, club news and general look back in time articles. If you have any news that you would like to share with us particularly at these times then please email cqrfcsocialmedia@gmail.com and we will pass this on wider.

A new Facebook page has been set up and this like our Twitter account will be updated with the latest news.

Finally I want to say mine and the clubs heartfelt condolences go out to everyone who has lost a family member or friend during the last year but especially so to our members, former players and their families. Please keep as you are and stay safe and as we continue to adhere to the guidelines then will hopefully see you sooner rather than later.
