Carmarthen Quins kick off at a sunny Talbot Athletic Ground to get the eighth round of Super Rygbi Cymru underway.

The Wizards make a break from inside their half with winger (14) making a spectacular solo run deep into Quins territory. Quins winger Thomas Williams has the pace to track him and tackle him to the ground in a great try-saving tackle. Possession is back with Quins.

We win territory deep in Aberavon’s half. We push them back in the scrum on their 22 and get the ball out to the left. Good hands in midfield see the ball land safely with Steff Evans, who darts around the defending backline, and crosses for Quins’ first try of the afternoon.

Possession is retained from a line out on the far side, despite the ball not finding Quins hands at the thrown in. The ball is shipped across the attacking line before finding Thomas Williams on the opposite wing, who crosses the whitewash unopposed. Price adds the conversion.

Aberavon come back on the attack in the second quarter and look dangerous with ball in hand.

Quins’ attack doesn’t take long to fire-up again, making their way back deep into Aberavon territory. A composed phase of play sees the ball move left to right, right to left, before coming back to winger Williams who touches down in the corner. He’s got a foot in touch however and the try is not awarded.

We’re penalised at the ruck inside Wizards territory. They kick downfield and find touch on the 22-metre line. Advantage to the home side with Quins offside. We come back for another lineout.

Despite a solid defensive effort by the Quins under the posts, Aberavon get the ball out wide and we see winger Frankie Jones cross the whitewash. Conversion is added by Charlie Thomas.

Aberavon fullback Scott Delnevo makes a break into Quins territory. He’s tackled to the ground by three Quins defenders, but he gets the ball back to his supporting players. Quins are penalised for being offside and they get another bite at the cherry. The home team edge towards Quins’ line but Quins regain possession and clear the ball down field.

Evans makes a break with a chip-chase, we’re back up to their 22-line but it’s another penalty awarded against us.

Aberavon get the second half underway and they’ve made one changed with Dylan James replacing Freddie Chapman.

Elis Price kicks downfield for a lineout. The ball goes long over the top. It’s in Aberavon hands but they know it on. We come back for a Quins scrum.

Three Quins lineouts later and we get the maul moving to the whitewash. Isaac Young, who’s on a scoring run, claims his side’s fourth. Price adds the conversion.

Aberavon bring on fresh legs at 9 and 10. They kick to the corner, and second row Lewis Marsh makes a barnstorming break from the line out. He gets himself yards from the line under the posts, gets the ball out and with Tomi Booth claiming a converted try.

The replacements have had an immediate impact on the home team. They kick to the corner and Quins bring on fresh legs of their own.

Lewis Morgan and Ifan James replace Isaac Young and Connor Allen, while Gabe McDonald comes on for Jac Howells in midfield.

Aberavon have an attacking lineout on Quins’ 22 but a chip over the top of Quins defenders brings their attacking phase to an end.

Ross Fox replaces Lewis March on the home side while Ben Williams comes on for Quins captain Shaun Evans.

Aberavon tighthead Geraint James is replaced. Congratulations on his 150th appearance for the Wizards.

Wizards have got some momentum as the head into the final quarter of the game. They have the lion’s share of possession and territory with Quins having to defend attacking phase

Ethan Williams replaces Sam Jardine. Iestyn Wood comes on for Iestyn Richards.

They win the ball at the lineout, the ball gets push wide, winger Frankie Jones dances around his opposite number, passes the ball back inside to Caelan Carson-Jones who crosses the whitewash. Conversion is missed.

Callum Woolley and Gruff Williams make their way on to the field with Quins now back in Aberavon’s half. A scrum on the 22 sees Quins run an attacking phase, with Lewys Millin making the hard yards. A dink through by Price is haltered by Aberavon, with Quins in turn losing territory.

With minutes remaining on the clock Aberavon are back inside Quins’ half, but handling errors at the lineout see Quins kick to touch.

We have another line out on their 22, just like in the first half, the ball goes long and Aberavon get their hands on it. They opt to kick down field, giving Quins an opportunity to come back on the attack through George’s boot.

It’s a tense final passage of play with Aberavon determined to get a final notch on the scoreboard. Quins remain composed and Price puts boot to ball to bring the game to an end.
