WILSON’S GOLDEN BOOT EARNS QUINS 4 POINTS AT SARDIS.

Jac Wilson earned his side’s third away win on the bounce after striking an 84th minute penalty.

Quins debutant Corum Nott and outside half Jac Wilson were stars of the show for the Quins.

After two minutes, Quins entered Ponty’s 22. Jac Wilson spotted Corum on the wing and kicked the ball 30m across the field straight in to Corum’s bread basket. Corum collected, beat the fullback to dot down in the corner. Wilson converted. Quins 7-0.

On the 15 minute mark, Ponty struck back through scrum half Joel Raikes who managed to spot a gap and dive over. Scrivens levelled the score at 7-7.

Half hour went by and a lack of Quins discipline provided Ponty an opportunity to extend their lead by three points. Joseph Scrivens accurately kicked his side into the lead. Ponty lead 10-7.

10 minutes later, it was Ponty’s turn to lack discipline in kickable range for Wilson. Lee Taylor pointed to the posts with Wilson sending the ball straight through the uprights. 10-10.

Half time score: Pontypridd 10 – 10 Carmarthen Quins

Four minutes into the second half, Carmarthen were awarded a penalty for holding on at the break time. Again, Captain Lee Taylor pointed at the posts to extend the Quins’ lead by 3. Wilson converts. 13-10 Quins.

Ponty scored their second try of the afternoon through Garyn Daniels. Ponty kept the ball tight and powered their way over the line on the hour mark. Scrivens converted. 17-13 Ponty.

8 minutes from full time, Quins were penalised again resulting in another 3 points for Scrivens and Ponty. 20-13 Ponty.

75 minutes in, Quins had a scrum on the right hand side of the field, 50m out from the try line. From the scrum, the ball found its way out to Nott on the left wing. Some magical footwork and extreme upper body strength allowed him to beat two Ponty players on the edge to finish superbly down the left hand touchline. Wilson from the corner added the extras. 20-20.

Four minutes into full-time (84′) the pack earned Quins a penalty, 5m from the touchline, 40m out. Lee Taylor asks Wilson whether he thinks he can kick this. Wilson nods his head and ask for his kicking tee. Wilson bangs it straight through the sticks.

Best Wishes for a Speedy Recovery to Mr Bob Rossiter

The club has been informed that a loyal supporter is currently suffering from ill health.

Bob (Rossiter) was born in Bridgwater, Somerset after his mother went into labour on a train on the Welsh side of Severn Tunnel. She had been visiting her sister in Cardiff and was on her way home and an ambulance was there to collect her from Bristol station to take her to get Bob born in Bridgewater Hospital. But so as far we are concerned Bob’s Welsh !

After working in England for most of his time he was eventually drawn to Wales with his lovely wife, Sheila, and in 2002 where they purchased a property in Talog which they completely rebuilt into a beautiful dwelling surrounded by a mass of flowers and shrubs. It was a little later that Bob started to become a Carmarthen Quins supporter and regimentally attended all home and away games. He became a patron and Q150 member as well as helping at each home game to gather the flags and banners.

Bob is now fully retired and unfortunately has suffered recently with his health but keeps up to date with all that goes on in the Quins.

Recently an important visitor made a visit to Bob in Talog to present him with a personally signed book, and this was none other than Nigel Owens of whom Bob is a huge fan and regards him as in a class of his own when helping the game become great entertainment.

It should be also mentioned that Bob has on few occasions visited Aberdare Church cemetery where the composer of Hen Wlad Fyn Nhadau , James James is buried and cleaned up the grave which is sadly not always very well cared for and simply because of his love and respect for Wales.

Another fact about the Welsh National anthem is that it was the first National Anthem to be sung at the start of a sporting event and this was when it was performed in 1905 before Wales beat New Zealand in Cardiff Arms Park and beat them 3points to nil. How times have changed.

Bob our friend we all wish you a speedy and look forward to seeing you back in the club and park. As they say, another great Quin.

Carmarthen Quins v Llanelli

Our supporters will be aware that the next Indigo Premiership League fixture will be played this coming Thursday kicking off at 7.30pm.

We would like as many as possible at the park to cheer on the squad because they all appreciate your support. However, for those supporters who live away or are unable to get to the game the game will be televised live on S4C online. You will be able to access this via or Facebook page on the night or via the link we will share on Twitter.

The Quins will be keen to put right the result away to Pontypridd last Saturday where we managed to outscore the hosts 3 tries to 1 but through indiscretions Ponty outside half Diggy Bird kept the score board ticking over resulting in a 31-14 defeat for the Quins.

We hope to see as many of you at the park on Thursday night.
