Carmarthen Quins scrum half Rhodri Davies has today his announcement from rugby, on medical grounds, bringing the curtain down on a distinguished playing career.
Davies has enjoyed a stellar career representing Scarlets, Cardiff Rugby and Dragons on the professional level in Wales, Rotherham and Cornish Pirates across Offa’s Dyke, our fellow Super Rygbi Cymru west Walians, Llandovery, as well as Wales 7s between 2014 and 2018.
Making the announcement on his Instagram page, Davies said: “I’ve had to make the tough decision to retire from rugby on medical advice.
“I’m gutted that I haven’t been able to retire on my own terms, as it’s been a massive part of my life for so many years.”
Davies made 78 appearances for Carmarthen Quins, scoring 26 tries. His first appearance came 16 years ago, back in 2010, against Newport. His last Quins appearance, a try-scoring one, was back in April, against Cardiff, in the Super Rygbi Cymru semi-final.
Talking about life after rugby, Rhodri said; ”It’s going to be strange, but I’m looking forward to what the next chapter brings and hopefully giving something back!”
Everyone at the club would like to thank Rhodri for his outstanding commitment, professionalism and leadership during his time at the club.
He has showed great dedication throughout his career and has had a positive impact within the squad and the wider rugby community. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for his service and commitment to the Quins jersey over the years.
Pob lwc at y dyfodol.
