SRC opener at the Park – Gêm gynta’r gystadleuaeth newydd

Carmarthen Quins will play in the new look Super Rygbi Cymru in season 2024-25, our 150th season of rugby!

In what is deemed the biggest structural shake-up in Welsh rugby, since the introduction of regional rugby in 2003, Carmarthen Quins are one of 10 licenced clubs that will move out of the community game to become aligned with the professional tier.

The aim of the newly formed Super Rygbi Cymru is to bridge the gap for players moving between the academies and the regional clubs.

On Saturday 14th September we will get our first ever Super Rygbi Cymru fixture underway as we welcome Swansea to Carmarthen Park, kick-off 14:30.

SRC will be aligned to the professional game calendar and the United Rugby Championship to create a collaborative working relationship between the 10 clubs and the four regional clubs. This will include breaks in the competition during the autumn and Six Nations international windows.

In addition to 18 regular home and away league fixtures we will also feature in the SRC Cup competition. The cup competition that will take place during the Guinness Six Nations window.

As well as playing in the SRC trophy and cup, the 10 teams will also get the chance during the regular league campaign to fight for the SRC Challenge Shield. Similar to New Zealand’s Ranfurly Shield, the ‘holder’ will put up the Shield for competition in every home game in the regular league season.

Season Structure

  • The season will be played in three blocks (September & October / December / April & May)
  • Regular Season: 18 Rounds with all 10 teams playing each other home and away
  • Begins on the weekend of 14 September
  • Post-Season Finals: The post-regular season finals will consist of four knock-out stages
  • The Grand Final on or around Saturday 17 May 2025 (at a neutral venue).

There will be three pieces of silverware available to the teams – the Super Rygbi Cymru Trophy, the Super Rygbi Cymru Cup, and the Challenger Shield.

GÊM GYNTA’R GYSTADLEUAETH NEWYDD

Yn nhymor 2024-25, yn ogystal â dathlu canrif a hanner o rygbi yng Nghaerfyrddin, byddwn ni’n un o’r 10 clwb a fydd yn cystadlu yng nghystadleuaeth newydd Super Rygbi Cymru.

Mae Undeb Rygbi Cymru wedi cyflwyno’r gystadleuaeth newydd, sydd yn symud y gêm o’r gymuned i’r maes proffesiynol, er mwyn lleihau’r bwlch rhwng y lefel lled-broffesiynol a’r gêm rhanbarthol yng Nghymru.

Fe fyddwn ni’n dechrau ar ein taith yn y SRC, ddydd Sadwrn 14eg Medi, wrth i ni groesawu Abertawe i Barc Caerfyrddin.

Fe fydd y gynghrair yn rhoi cyfle i ni chwarae 18 gêm arferol, cartref ac oddi cartref, yn ogystal â chystadleuaeth cwpan a fydd yn digwydd yn ystod Pencampwriaeth y Chwe Gwlad.

Strwythur y tymor

  • Chwarae’r gemau mewn 3 bloc (Medi a Hydref, Rhagfyr, Ebrill a Mai)
  • Tymor arferol: 18 rownd gyda’r 10 tîm yn chwarae ei gilydd gartref ac oddi cartref
  • I gychwyn ar benwythnos 14eg Medi
  • Rowndiau terfynol: Fe fydd yna bedwar rownd ail gyfle ar gyfer y rowndiau terfynol
  • Y Rownd Derfynol – Sadwrn 17 Mai 2025 mewn lleoliad niwtral

Fe fydd cyfle i gael ein dwylo ar dri thlws – Tlws Super Rygbi Cymru, Cwpan Super Rygbi Cymru, a Tharian yr Herwyr.
